The 2017 Bulfinch Awards – You’re Invited!
Sally and I had a wonderful time late Saturday afternoon helping our client with the Manchester Historical Museum’s sponsored tour of their beautifully renovated 1804 Federal Period home, known at the Forster Leach House, shown below. Now, we are looking forward to next Saturday night and the 2017 Bulfinch Awards Presentation Ceremony and Dinner at the Harvard Club.
Sally, who is the Vice President of the New England Chapter of the Institute of Classical Architecture and Art (ICA&A) will be co-hosting it along with ICA&A -New England chapter President, David Andriozzi, NCARB, AIA.
The ICA&A’s national awards program was inaugurated in 1982 as the Arthur Ross Awards and was a model for the New England chapter’s regional awards program, initiated in 2010 and named for New England’s most famous architect (and America’s first native born architect), Charles Bulfinch, the designer of the Massachusetts State House.
This year, the New England chapter has expanded the scope for entries from work in New England by firms in New England to work in New England by firms from around the United States.
The Bulfinch Award recognizes the best work of individuals and firms to preserve and advance the classical tradition in New England. Below is a random sampling of images from several of this year’s award winning submittals.
Residential New Construction Over 5,000 Square Feet: Peter Pennoyer Architects.
Landscape Architecture: LeBlanc Jones Landscape Architects.
Craftsmanship/Artisanship: Telescopes of Vermont
