A Family’s Classic Cape Cod Summer Retreat
Summer is almost here and we are honored and thrilled that the editors of Cape Cod Home magazine (a part of Cape Cod Life) published a delightful story about our client’s summer retreat and chose our work to feature on the cover of their Summer 2017 issue.
Thank you Cape Cod Life, we are very appreciative! We created the video fade below, to share with you, and our readers, a sense of the before and after.
And to our photographer, Michael J. Lee, thank you for your beautiful photographs. They truly tell the visual story of our client’s home.
Read on for more of the backstory of how this beautiful home came to be, guided by Sally’s expert eye.
Located in Osterville and designed by architect Ivan Bereznicki, our client asked us to to add a sense of lightness, via furnishings, lighting, art and accessories, to their solidly built, beautiful 5,000 square foot second home.
They also asked us to make our choices *family friendly* so they could feel comfortable and relaxed and not worry about spills, etc. when they are there with their children, enjoying the Cape Cod lifestyle during the summers.
To get a feel for the house and environs, in early November 2015, Sally and I “camped out” in the empty house for several days, measuring and photographing all the rooms and studying how the house felt a different times of day. We researched and talked with local resources and vendors.
Sally then met with the family several times in November 2015, presenting designs for all the indoor and outdoor living spaces, including all furniture, area rugs, decorative lighting, artwork and accessories.
Orders were placed before the Christmas Holiday. The client also asked Sally to be *surprised* aka as *The Big TV Reveal Moment”, so at the end of April 2016, Sally and her assistant, Ted, traveled to the Cape and supervised a two day installation, without our client being present.
When our client walked in after two days, and saw their home transformed all at once, they were thrilled and told Sally, “I know it sounds like a cliche, but you really nailed it!” – words every designer loves to hear.
Sally and I are thankful for wonderful clients like these that trust us to do our best work for them.
Our clients were thrilled to see their home on the cover, and the story inside, and once again, we extend our thanks to the team at Cape Cod Home magazine.
