Project Overview: Since the mid-1980s, we've worked on nearly every room in this charming 1880s Victorian. The homeowner’s approach over the years has remained consistent: Live casually while embracing formality in decorating.
Another constant has been the desire for more storage space, which was a key consideration in our work on the family room. We designed a built-in entertainment center that houses all of the family’s audiovisual equipment behind closed panels of custom millwork.
While large entertainment centers are fairly commonplace in homes today, this project was completed in 1985. An elegant solution that was well ahead of its time — and still stands up over 20 years later. We take pride in making timeless design like this a hallmark of our work.
Opposite the entertainment wall is a custom sofa built into a bay window. Keeping in line with the homeowner’s design to live casually, the sofa offers cushy comfort for up to four people while simplifying the room’s layout.
