Case Study: Designer Showhouse

A showhouse presents unique challenges for a designer because there is a compressed timeframe to plan and execute a solution.

In our case, we needed to schedule and coordinate the efforts of the various contractors and craftsmen. We had to find what we could, borrow for the decoration, and decide what to purchase to give the room just the right look. And we had to do all this knowing there was an opening date. No excuses would be acceptable if our space was not ready!

Let's just say our project- and time-management skills were really put to the test. And we passed with flying colors!

Our design solution reflected a worldly continental style. Tapping into our national network of resources, we carefully selected antiques and antique reproductions from various European periods, luxurious fabrics, classical busts, chandeliers and artwork.

Our intention was to create something that complemented and reinforced the delightful architectural details and proportions that Hunt designed so many years ago.

"Your space was by far the best room — the most sophisticated, most elegant and most soothing to the eye. And it fit the house."
